After some sparks and smoke, I discovered I need a new one.

Need free CD/DVD burning software? Check these out.

The Decorah eagles are back. The first hatch is expected in late March. Here’s the video stream on UStream. One of the eagles has a locator transmitter on it; looks like he vacationed this fall near Duluth!

I know this young man‘s dad; quite an accomplishment!

Why do the Brits talk with that funny accent?

Watch a crazy bastard mess up his legs.

Since I want one: a Delta Unisaw FAQ.

After we watch a House Hunters episode on TV, I did some online research to find out how the featured young man had made his fortune. It looks like he’s an Internet scammer.

This poor kid…

How to send text messages to any phone via email.

A neat toy – wouldn’t mind one to shoot some videos but couldn’t justify the cost to build one. (From what I can gather they cost anywhere from $1500-5000 to build.)

Ricky Gervais has a blog.

In 2009 Microsoft sold their ESP sim engine (the foundation for MS Flight Simulator X or FSX) to Lockheed Martin who used to to create Prepar3D. Microsoft then went on to develop its video game Flight, which has been panned by die-hard flight simmers.

FSX addons are supposed to work with Prepar3D. However, Lockheed Martin is charging $10 per month for Prepar3D or a $499 one time charge. FSX, on the other hand, sells for under $30…

X-Plane 10 sells for around $75, but you can get the open source FlightGear for nothing.

On a similar note, here’s a World War I combat flight simulator.

Here’s a book about the FAA that seems to mirror my experiences.

The original clip of the movie scene in The Downfall which has been parodied online about a million times now.

Amazing video of surveillance cameras during the tornado in Kentucky last week:

Why it’s good to wear a parachute (Note the guy/jumpmaster? staring at his wrist altimeter at 3:28 in the vid – I think he bails at about 4:49. Happened in South Africa.):

You have to wait for it, but talk about crappy timing:

My old Campbell Hausfeld framing nailer doesn’t have one, and after using it this weekend I decided I needed a newer framing nailer that has a single fire sequential-trip trigger. I narrowed my choices down to a Hitachi model and one from Porter Cable. Since the Porter Cable is a much older model, I chose the Hitachi.
